How To Improve Chance To Get Train Ticket on the IRCTC Website

If you have ever tried booking an online train ticket on the Indian Railways website (irctc.co.in), you know the importance of time especially when you are planning to make a train reservation under the Tatkal* scheme.

Ticket Booking – Every Second Counts

The IRCTC website opens up for reservations at 8 AM and, unless you are an extremely fast touch-typist, the seats are often gone by the time you fill this passenger details form. The website operates on a first-come first-served basis so if you can fill the reservation form in lesser amount of time, it may improve your chances of getting a train ticket.

That’s where Magic Autofill can help. It’s a simple online tool that will fill the passenger details form on the IRCTC website with the click of a button thus giving you an upper hand.

Here’s how the tool works. Go to ctrlq.org/irctc around ten minutes prior to the opening of the booking window and complete the form – its an almost exact replica of the form that’s available on the Indian railways website. Once you’ve filled the passenger details, hit I’m Feeling Lucky and the tool will generate a Magic Autofill button that you need to drag to your bookmarks toolbar.

Now when you on the Indian Railways website to book tickets, just click the same Magic Autofill button on your bookmarks toolbar and voilà ! The reservation form is filled automatically and you can directly proceed to the payment screen.

What happens behind the scene? You are essentially pre-filling a form and saving it as a bookmark. Next when you are on the actual form, you click the bookmark to transfer the previously filled values to your new form.
Sometimes the IRCTC form may not have every field that’s available on the Magic Autofill website (say Food preference or ID details) and in that case, you can just ignore these fields on the Magic Autofill site. It’s always a good idea to do a test run and fill only the fields that are required for your particular train.

[*] The Tatkal booking on the IRCTC website opens at 08:00 hours a day in advance excluding the day of journey from the train’s source station. You’ll also have to provide an ID number on the online reservation form of all passengers for Tatkal tickets.
